About

A guide that counts the evenings

Browser games are free to start, which makes them easy to try and easy to underestimate. Worth the Load exists to look at what comes after the first session.

Why this guide exists

Most game listings tell you what a title is: its genre, its setting, its biggest feature. Far fewer tell you what it will ask of you over a month — how often it wants you back, how much of your progress depends on timers and when the shop starts to matter. Those are the questions we kept asking, so we built a guide around them.

We keep the programme deliberately short. Covering five games properly is more useful than listing fifty in a sentence each, and a short list lets us compare titles directly rather than in isolation.

Who it is for

Worth the Load is written for adults who play in the gaps of a busy week: a lunch break, a commute, half an hour once the house is quiet. If you want a game that fits around your life rather than the other way round, this guide is for you. If you are looking for the most competitive, highest-spending corners of a game, other publications will serve you better.

How we work

Reviews are written by our editorial desk and checked against each publisher’s own information before publication. We describe monetisation plainly, name premium currencies where they are known and avoid claims we cannot verify. Our full scoring method is public on the Editorial Standard page, including a worked example of how an overall mark is calculated.

How we are funded

The guide is funded by advertising and, for some outbound links, affiliate commission. Commercial arrangements are handled separately from editorial decisions and never determine which games appear or how they score. Links that may earn a commission go only to the official publisher site and are marked as sponsored in the page code.

What we are not

We are not a games publisher, and we do not host, sell or operate any game. We do not sell in-game currency or items, we do not handle accounts or payments, and we have no connection with gambling, betting or real-money gaming of any kind. For help with a game account, a purchase or a refund, please contact the publisher directly.
